The design process of a VLSI IC
Overall, the VLSI IC design consists of two primary layers or components:

- Ion implantation: Here, we use .ng to obtain the required electrical properties in the semiconductor, i.e. the process of connecting the dopes. The process uses a beam of high-energy release dopant ions to target the exact areas of the wafer. The energy level of the beam determines the depth of water entry.
- Metal: In this step, we apply a thin layer of aluminium over the entire wafer.
- Assembly and packaging: Each wafer contains hundreds of chips. Therefore, we use a diamond saw to cut the wafers into single chips. Later, they get a power check, and we dismiss the failures. In contrast, passers-by receive a visual inspection using a microscope. Finally, we pack the chips that pass the visual inspection as well as re-examine them.
